As you may have already heard, the KTTC was successful in acquiring a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to hire a Volunteer/Education Coordinator.

Kate Siena was the successful applicant and joined the KTTC team in May – just in time for our busy season! Kate came to us with over 15 years experience with wildlife rehabilition from volunteering and working at Toronto Wildlife Centre.  Over the past few weeks she has been hard at work getting up to speed with our programs, acquainting herself with our existing volunteers, following up with potential new volunteers, and organizing the volunteer program at the centre.

At this point in the year Kate is focussed on finding volunteers to help with the Turtle Taxi program. Volunteer drivers (with their own transportation) are needed to shuttle turtles from the Riverview Park and Zoo to the KTTC, local vet clinics, and sometimes to Toronto Wildlife Centre. Please contact Kate if you are interested in helping out with these programs (or know someone else who might be!), or if you have any other questions or comments about volunteering at the KTTC. Kate can be reached at info@kawarthaturtle.org, or at 741-5000.
