“The only veterinary hospital dedicated to Ontario’s endangered turtles will be around to help more reptiles next spring thanks to a $30,000 grant from TD Friends of the Environment Foundation.

The foundation’s executive director, Mary Desjardins, was moved by a story in Monday’s Toronto Star, citing the struggles of the Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre in Peterborough, which cared for 450 injured turtles and about 1,000 eggs this year. The facility that depends on private donations and volunteers was running out of space and money.”
