Juno stopped in with her parents – she donated her birthday money to the OTCC!

We were recently contacted by Shiv, Justin, and Will from St. Catharine Elementary Catholic School in Peterborough. They were working on their project for “Nature Obsessed” learning fair and requested a donation for their raffle. A vote was held with all those in attendance and it was decided that the proceeds from their raffle would be split between two organizations that help make a difference with nature and the conservation of our animals and the environment, and we were selected as one of them!

We were so impressed with the work done by these grade 6 students, and their interest in turtles and the environment. Thank you for this wonderful contribution!

River dropped by the OTCC on Saturday, May 4  to deliver a special donation for the turtles at our centre. River raised $161 at his birthday party and through Facebook Fundraiser!

Charli celebrated her birthday in March and raised $300.00 to help the OTCC save turtles!

Wafford dropped in during March Break 2019 to give us a donation in honour of his friend Esther’s birthday! Thank you Wafford!

Guillaume visited us in the summer of 2018 to ask lots of questions and get information from us. He wrote an article on freshwater turtles and was published in the issue 43 of the Wild Nature magazine. He traveled 3113 kilometers with his parents in order to interview specialists and write his article.

Think Turtle Conservation Initiative and Scout Canada’s 1st Bancroft Beavers & Cubs, Bancroft wanted to help turtles and raise community awareness, so they teamed up to make “Watch 4 Turtles” signs as part of the Beavers and Cubs “Good Turn week”.  The Beavers and Cubs also sold handcrafted turtle key chains, Watch 4 Turtles buttons, and patches were special ordered to sell at the Canada Day Celebrations.  Overall they raised nearly $2,000.00!

Peterborough’s 11th Brownie unit participated in a field trip to the OTCC on Nov. 6, 2018. After the education event they collected donations for us, and Wendy Baggs, our Education Coordinator was invited to their regular meeting to receive and bring back the donations. They received a lovely certificate in appreciation of their effort and kindness. Thank you 11th Brownie unit!
